余萍，1967年生于湖北黄石，祖籍安徽三河古镇，现生活和工作于北京与武汉。1987年毕业于湖北美术学院油画专业，1999年获中国画硕士学位，现为湖北美术学院硕士生导师。

Yu Ping was born in 1967 in Huangshi, Hubei Province, and traces her ancestral roots to Sanhe Ancient Town, Anhui. She currently lives and works between Beijing and Wuhan. She graduated from the Department of Oil Painting at Hubei Institute of Fine Arts in 1987 and earned a Master’s degree in Chinese Painting in 1999. She is now a postgraduate advisor at the institute.

自上世纪90年代末起，余萍的艺术实践持续关注当代个体在公共世界中的精神性状态，通过诗性冥想、时间感知与生命的细节直视，探索“存在”的另一种图像学。她称之为“漫游于时间的漏洞”。

Since the late 1990s, Yu Ping’s artistic practice has focused on the re-spiritualization of the individual within the public world. Through poetic contemplation, close observation of life, and an acute sense of time, she constructs an alternative visuality of existence—what she describes as “wandering through the loopholes of time.”

她的作品曾展出于巴黎、巴塞尔、德国、纽约、洛杉矶、西雅图及中国多地，广泛被国家级美术馆、国际艺术机构与私人收藏。其作品语言往往朴素、微观、带有轻微漂移感，以图像回应内在与社会之间的微妙振动。

Her work has been exhibited in Paris, Basel, Germany, New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, and across China, and is held in national museums, international institutions, and private collections. Her visual language is subtle and micro-observational, often imbued with a sense of quiet drift, tracing the delicate resonance between the inner self and the social world.

作为“武汉·七拍女艺术家”群体的主要发起人之一，她长期倡导艺术作为关怀、教育与表达的社会实践。从2008年起，她通过十余场国内外展览，提出以女性视角对当代身份的重新理解。2016年至2025年，她发起并完成了一个长达十年的艺术计划——以影像记录一个正在成长的青少年生命群体，以“人人都是教育家”为理念，创办“艺起道”，探索艺术与教育的融合路径。

As one of the founding members of the “Wuhan Seven Beats Women Artists,” she has actively promoted art as a social practice of care, education, and personal expression. Since 2008, she has curated and participated in numerous exhibitions that explore identity through a feminist lens. From 2016 to 2025, she completed a decade-long project documenting a growing youth community, grounded in the idea that “everyone is an educator.” Through this, she founded Yi Qi Dao, an initiative integrating art with self-education.
