Yang Na

Born in Sichuan and currently based in Beijing, Yang Na holds both BFA and MFA degrees from the Oil Painting Department of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. Her unique style, known as “Illusional Realism,” blends surreal imagery with reality, logic with emotion, and wildness with structure—unfolding in scenes that seem both familiar and foreign.

Her paintings weave together human and animal forms, landscapes, and objects into images that appear realistic but constantly derail into the surreal. Dream logic, bodily sensation, and subconscious symbols coalesce into a visual questioning of reality itself.

Her work has been exhibited at the Sharjah Art Museum (UAE), World Art Museum Rotterdam (Netherlands), Grand Palais (Paris), MoCA Taipei, Today Art Museum (Beijing), and MoCA Yinchuan, among others. In recent years, she has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions across China.

She describes herself as often “absent-minded” and constantly wrestling with her own thoughts. Through this inner tension, she creates paintings that evoke strange yet familiar dreamscapes—spaces where viewers remain awake while dreaming.
