Maritsa Kissamitaki
Guest Artist | Maritsa Kissamitaki
Raised in Greece and with British heritage, Maritsa Kissamitaki has long lived between cultures—a position that deeply informs her art. With a background in design, digital media, and prototype development, she eventually returned to tangible making, reconnecting with material presence through the creation of sculptural light forms.
Her works explore the spiral as a universal and symbolic form—fluid, intuitive, and resonant. These “biomorphic entities” glow from within, without faces or limbs, yet carry a quiet presence. They invite the viewer not to interpret, but to feel.
Entities in Light: The Language of the Spiral
Rather than illustrating concepts, Maritsa’s light sculptures grow through material interaction. Inspired by architectural scrollwork and ancient ornamentation, her forms resist categories—hovering between the organic and the mythical, the present and the eternal.
In this exhibition, her series of illuminated sculptures—including works titled Bella Rosa, Her Mind in the Cloud, Pixie’s Whisper, and Stillness of a Suspended Glow—invites the viewer into a quiet dialogue with form, presence, and light.
