Cracks in Time: Ten Years of Change Through Her Eyes
Venue:Deutschritterkapelle & Grellingerstrasse27, Basel, Switherland
This exhibition brings together six contemporary artists from China, showcasing their representative works from 2015 to 2025. Set in the cultural context of Switzerland, the show establishes a transregional dialogue about how artists respond to societal ruptures and the traces of structural change through art.
Their works build “cracks” within their structures—gaps of time and perception where nature, technology, memory, and emotion intersect. These cracks are both fault lines and pathways, allowing light to filter through hidden spaces. As a curatorial concept, “cracks in time” becomes not just a metaphor for fragmentation, but a way of sensing and narrating reality anew.
Short Documentaries as Parallel Time
Six short documentaries will be screened throughout the exhibition, offering in-depth portrayals of each artist’s creative process, environment, and visual language. These films function as an extension of the artworks, adding a parallel layer of time and cultural resonance. Through non-linear and fragmented narratives, the documentaries explore the complex interplay between art and society, history and individual experience, inviting viewers to engage with the broader cultural and contextual dimensions of artistic practice.
